Since the morning I have been on contact with Joe Kerry, President of Glenn Beck’s Mercury One charities, and of the Doug Stringer and Eric Cummings of Somebody Cares. All are on the ground in Moore, Oklahoma. Glenn took down two trucks of supplies last night. They explained that it’s a obviously chaotic right now and that debris blocks most access to the most affected—and in need areas. As a result they’re approaching relief efforts in phases to allow rescue workers to do what they need to recover individuals, find missing loved ones, and remove debris from roadways. There are very few unloading sites at the moment and they are slammed. There is no place to store anything. Cash through these two organizations, so that relief workers can purchase gift cards and storm victims can purchase what they need, are most desirable at the moment, along with bottled water and wet wipes.

We are still planning on collecting donations and a number of companies have graciously donated trucks and pledge supplies. Several of them have requested to remain anonymous, but one of those was made possible because of my good friend, Chip, and the truck is from Quincy, Illinois. Jeff Hansen of Hansen’s Tree Service has donated a truck and is currently waiting for the all-clear to take his rigs down to Moore and help remove debris. Brett Line of Aqua Systems has pledge a pallet of purified bottled water.

I am waiting for the all clear and will be conference with these amazing volunteers again in the morning for an update. As soon as we can, I’ll put the call out for volunteers and donations and we’ll get things moving and get it to a designated area where supplies will be distributed right into the hands of folks who need them.

Many thanks to the amazing people who are standing by, ready to pour out their hears to help. Also thanks to Gateway Grassroots, for behind the scenes coordination with area stores, and for my flagship station, FM News Talk 97.1 for fundraising on their site.
