Insurance Stocks Soar as HC Bill Clears Senate Hurdle
Health insurance stocks are climbing in early trading as investors react to the news that Democrats’ health care bill cleared a key procedural hurdle in the Senate. The bill would force all individuals to purchase insurance, and would offer hundreds of billions of dollars in subsidies to help some of them do so.
Either way the big, bad, insurance industry (baaad capitalism! Hugo Chavez agrees with you!) was going to rake it in because forcing everyone to have health insurance gives money to insurance companies.
Is congress high? Was this supposed to be a three finger snap moment for them? Because total FAIL.
