Today I spoke with James Knowles, Mayor of Ferguson, and Chris Arps, co-founder of Move On Up and a member of Project 21. Knowles said that his residents didn’t recognize the people doing the looting and rioting last night after the shooting of an unarmed teenager, 18 year-old Mike Brown. Community members were making it known, too, said Knowles, and calling it out to police and media. Knowles said the majority of the agitators doing the pillaging were likely attracted to the candlelight vigil held earlier in the evening.

Arps and I discussed what should be done immediately to quell the unrest and our dissatisfaction with the initial STLPD press conference on Saturday after the shooting, via The Missouri Torch.
