While the world waits for the next development in the Syria debacle, Secretary of State John Kerry and President Obama passive-aggressively battle over credit for the idea to allow Russia as mediator.

Kerry was sure to remind everyone that his “rhetorical” challenge for Assad to turn over chemical weapons was accidental genius and as of such, he deserves credit.

The US state department stressed that Kerry was making a rhetorical argument about the one-week deadline and unlikelihood of Assad turning over Syria’s chemical weapons stockpile.

But because Democrats think that giving Russia, Syria’s benefactor, control over any weapons is a great idea, suddenly, he wants credit.

Meanwhile David Axelrod says no, no, it was all Obama:

Gentlemen, there is enough blame, er, I mean credit, to go around.
