So much for her pivot to the center. This from CNN’s townhall today via NRO:

Congress didn’t reinstate the “assault weapons” ban because Democrats didn’t have the votes in the Senate. Period. We have “universal background checks.” If Clinton doesn’t think so I have to ask the legitimacy of her opinion in the political sphere on this topic if she’s ignorant of a basic tenet of the Brady law. People who illegally obtain firearms in the face of existing laws preventing such possession—and illegally abuse firearms—have proven that they are not deterred by such laws. The idea that because mass shootings are rare, according to the CDC report commissioned by Obama last year, law-abiding Americans must be punished for the actions of the lawless and rendered defenseless is asinine.
