For months, thousands of Missourians have been scratching their heads at what became an early race for the Missouri Governor seat.
The late Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich announced his bid for the highest office in Missouri on February 26, 2015, followed almost immediately by Republican Catherine Hannaway. Hannaway briefly suspended her campaign shortly after the tragic death of Schweich. After resuming her campaign, former Democrat Eric Greitens also threw his hat into the race.
Today, however became a game-changer. Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder announced that he may consider running for Governor of Missouri in 2016. Kinder began his career in Missouri politics in 1992 where he ran for and won the Senate seat representing Cape Girardeau Missouri. He was re-elected in 1996 and 2000. In 2004, Kinder ran against Bekki Cook and went on to win the seat of Lt Governor.
A long-time grassroots supporter, Kinder has carried the voice of the voters opposing large government, and made common practice to call out current Governor Jay Nixon (D), who has repeatedly vetoed the elected results of Missouri State citizens.
