2016 GOP Presidential contender opened the interview by telling Dana that he turned down many other interviews to do her show. He continued by answering her question about the McCain dustup over the weekend wherein Trump criticized Senator John McCain for calling 15,000 people who showed up to hear Trump speak in AZ “crazies.” Trump explained further that he actually called McCain a hero four times in his remarks where he also criticized McCain for a bad track record of helping veterans.
“I love the vets, I work with wounded warriors, I work with everybody. So, you know, when I see somebody that has done such a poor job with the vets, John McCain has been a disaster for the vets, he hasn't done anything. These people are living in hell and it bothers me” said Trump. He said that the vets “will be among the greatest beneficiaries” of a Trump presidency, touting his success as a business leader. In the interview he also called on McCain to apologize for denigrating his supporters and tea party members.
Dana also asked Trump if he would have flown the flag half-staff for our fallen soldiers after the Chatanooga terrorist killings, he said he would and he would allow our soldiers to be armed on base.
