A drone crashed into a skyscraper in downtown St. Louis on Monday and police are trying to find out who owns it and flew it:

The DJI Phantom 2 Quadcopter equipped with an HD camera slammed into the Met Square building Monday. It was found on a 30th floor balcony by a security guard.

It’s an easily acquired aircraft, going for as little as $500.

St. Louis Police and the Federal Aviation Administration now want to know who it belongs to and why it was being flown downtown.

Just last year the St. Louis Police Chief wrote to the FAA as a first step to request publicly-funded drones for use in the city.
