I told you Missouri conservatives could win their senate. Now do you believe me? From Mason Dixon poll of registered voters via KMOV Channel 4, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and the Kansas City Star:
A new poll shows the Missouri Senate race is too close to predict a winner.
The News 4, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Kansas City Star poll shows Senator Claire McCaskill with a 2 percent lead over Congressman Todd Akin, at 45 and 43 percent, respectively.
With a margin of error at plus or minus four points, and eight percent still undecided, the two remain in a statistical dead heat. (my emphasis)
Some interesting things to note: only hardcore McCaskill voters care about Akin’s comments any more; the ooga booga fear-mongering has had the permanent impact Dems wanted. The majority, 41% of those surveyed prioritized the economy over all else as issues which concern them the most, proving once again that it’s the economy, stupid.
Akin’s stronghold remains central, northern, and southern, southeast and west Missouri while McCaskill holds strong in Kansas and St. Louis cities. McCaskill’s unfavorable is still higher than Akin’s. Undecideds will be influential.
This latest poll marks a monumental shift from a month ago when everyone except for me and Missouri conservatives thought the race was all but lost. It marks a consistent decrease for McCaskill.
