Screen Shot 2014-08-12 at 12.24.26 PM Yesterday they announced that they were releasing the name of the officer who shot 18 year-old Mike Brown. Shockingly, threats were made of the officer's life. Who saw that coming? Apparently not the police brass. Today they announced this:

The police officer being investigated for the shooting death of unarmed Missouri teen Michael Brown will not be identified due to concerns over his safety, Ferguson police said today. Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said there had been death threats made against the officer involved in the shooting, in which Brown, 18, was shot multiple times in Saturday afternoon. The chief had originally planned to release the name today at a 1 p.m. press conference, but said he now hopes to release it once tensions in the town calm down.

Because this move will reduce tensions?
