Today the Trump 2020 campaign and the GOP announced that they will not issue credentials to Bloomberg News for rallies and other campaign events. And why should he? It was founded and funded by one of his many Democratic opponents in their respective party’s primary and publicly declared that while they’ll continue writing about Trump, they won’t cover their boss or the other Democrat candidates:
Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait just sent this note to staffers: "There is no point in trying to claim that covering this presidential campaign will be easy for a newsroom that has built up its reputation for independence in part by not writing about ourselves…" pic.twitter.com/RvfvpsZgDV

Announcing your bias doesn’t make what you’re doing less biased.
(I’ve written about how Bloomberg’s entities are desperately trying to distance themselves from him.)
The New York Times reacted:

So why then is Dean Baquet criticizing Trump for Bloomberg News decision (and public statement) to not fairly cover the Democrat 2020 presidential candidates by only thoroughly covering the Republican?
