This morning Nancy Pelosi announced that Democrats would proceed with impeachment:

For the past several months she played coy with the socialist resistance that has appropriated the Democrat party and her loss was made official with the morning’s declaration. They’ve demanded impeachment for the past several years and she acquiesced. This is Pelosi’s party in spirit no longer.

Pelosi bizarrely claimed that the “facts are uncontested” when in truth there hasn’t been a presentation of facts nor evidence at all. Democrats paraded a number of “witnesses” who offered nothing but second and thirdhand information pertaining to a call, the transcript of which tanked any claim of “quid pro quo” or withholding of aid to Ukraine (along with the former envoy to Ukraine). The inquiry was only ever a show of intent to make it seem as though Democrats arrived at the decision to impeach after long, serious consideration.

In reality, Democrats wanted to impeach Trump the day after he won the 2016 election. His crime was winning and robbing them of the power they covet. They view that as a crime and an abuse and honestly, if there weren’t vulnerable Democrats in Trump-won states needed by the party to hold the majority I truly believe that Democrats would vote to impeach him for nothing. Amending the Constitution to insert “disagreement” along with “high crimes and misdemeanors” wouldn’t stop them in the slightest.

As for what’s next, well, that’s up to Mitch McConnell and the left is already apoplectic over the thought of Republicans running the Senate trial in the same way Democrats ran the House inquiry, which was to shut out Republicans entirely.
