This is a doozy of an analogy. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, has a new one for you this week:
Puppies aren’t separated from their moms until ~8 weeks. Less than that is thought of as harmful or abusive.
One of the most common lengths of US paid family leave is ~6 weeks.

Um, that eight week mark is about giving the puppies away permanently forever after they are weaned. The dog mom doesn’t lie immobile, never leaving. Have she ever seen a dog with a litter of puppies?
Dogs are also owned and kept on leashes. But this is perhaps the biggest point:
SOMEONE ELSE IS PAYING FOR THE DOGS TO LIVE AND EAT. IT’S NOT THE DOGS DOING THAT.
Perhaps AOC could find a less ridiculous way to articulate her point without comparing moms to dogs.
